find a voice health professional

There are a number of Professional and Support Associations  that represent healthcare specialists who have a particular interest in voice. Each provides a directory of members who have expertise in the management of voice health issues.

We are not in  a position to recommend or promote individual practitioners but we are happy to provide the following links.

The Australian Voice Association ~ENT Doctors, Speech Pathologist with interest in ‘voice’ as well as Complementary (laryngeal massage) Therapists and Singing Teachers

Laryngology Society of Australasia ~Surgeons, Speech Pathologists, Voice Scientists

The Australian Dystonia Support Group ~ Neurologists with a particular interest in Neurological Movement Disorders. (Many  movement disorders can impact on vocal quality eg Spasmodic Dysphonia, Parkinsons Disease)

Counselling and Psychosocial Support Directory ~Coming to terms with a chronic voice disorder can be extremely difficult. Changes to how you see yourself and how you think others see you, can lead to feelings of self-doubt, lack of confidence, isolation and sometimes depression.

It is important to find the right person to help you to accept and navigate the feelings of grief and loss that go with a diagnosis.

There are many experienced Psychologists and Counsellors who can help you, just ask your GP, Laryngologist or Speech Therapist.  We aim to build a directory of those who specialise in the unique needs of people with voice disorders.

    1. Thanks for contacting us Sue, the Laryngology Society Directory lists ENT’s whose speciality interest is “voice” – while it is not specifically stated whether they use botox therapy, many of them will. It would be worth contacting any in your area to check.
Many of the Neurologists listed on the Dystonia Support Group Directory will also have extensive botox treatment experience, but will not all necessarily deal with voice. Again it will be a case of making contact to check.
I’m sorry that we can’t make any specific recommendation – but hope that helps to head you in the right direction.
